Spring Quarter Started
“How was your break?” or “Did you do GIM?” is the common way to start the conversation with the friends here. (GIM stands for Global Initiatives in Management). We are back to the school and the classes have begun. Everybody is enthusiastically talking about his/her unique experiences during the break.
I am taking the following classes in this quarter:
- The Design of Services and Products (Norman)
- Successful Entrepreneurship (Shefsky)
- Venture Capital and Private Equity Investing (Collins)
- Media and Integrated Marketing (Calder)
- Finance II (Eisfeldt)
“The Design of Services and Products” is a design side of MMM course taught by Don Norman. Taking five classes might be too challenging for me, so I might have to drop one of the classes. We’ll see.

What text book do you use in Finance class ?
I studied it with “Contemporary Financial Management” Moyer McGulgan Kretlow.
I am still not familiar with finance. If you have good text-book. Please recommend it.
Media and Integrated Marketing seems exciting! You will learn about how to utilize CGM or Blogger for Marketing ?

I’m glad to hear from you.
Right, Finance is a hard subject for me too. Is your textbook good? We use “Principles of Corporate Finance” by Brealey, Myers and Allen. In the class we use handouts at most of the time and don’t use the book so much. In this spring break (March), I was reading this book at a restaurant in California by myself but somebody in the restraint instantly recognized this book and talked to me. He also got an MBA from another school and it was a little amazing thing to me.
The Media class is not necessarily focusing on CGM/Blogger (though conceptually it is a part of the class). I think those are handled more in some other marketing class. Here is a book related to the Media class.
