これは、自分が参加している MMM の中の MEM 側 (MBA でない方) のプロジェクトでした。何だか分かりにくいんだけど MEM は “Master of Engineering Management” の略で、「オペレーション」と「デザイン」の二本柱からなります。製品開発サイクルの中では MBA で扱うもの(マーケティング、戦略・・・）と補完関係にあるかと。このイベントは、その中のデザインのコースの中のプロジェクトという位置づけで、Northwestern Univ. の中で Kellogg ではなく McCormic Engineering School というエンジニアリングの学部が主催してます。

従来の MBA のマーケティング的要素も関連するんだけど、より製品・サービスのプラスアルファの差異化要素を「デザイン的思考」という形で打ち出すことがフォーカスのプログラムかと。プロジェクトの結果と同じぐらいに、そこに至るまでのプロセスを重視し、それを反復可能なスキルとして定着させることを狙っています。具体的例の一つとしては、IDEO (www.ideo.com) などのデザインファームの手法も紹介されます。

やってみた経験としては、現実の製品イノベーションの場面と同様、必ず正解と言えるルールがあるわけではなく、Open Question や不確定要素が多いために苦しいこともありました。そうした状況を快適だ・楽しいと感じ、プロアクティンブに動くことが吉ですな。

Right, Finance is a hard subject for me too. Is your textbook good? We use “Principles of Corporate Finance” by Brealey, Myers and Allen. In the class we use handouts at most of the time and don’t use the book so much. In this spring break (March), I was reading this book at a restaurant in California by myself but somebody in the restraint instantly recognized this book and talked to me. He also got an MBA from another school and it was a little amazing thing to me.

The Media class is not necessarily focusing on CGM/Blogger (though conceptually it is a part of the class). I think those are handled more in some other marketing class. Here is a book related to the Media class.
